Session Description: Preparing for HRSA compliance reviews such as Operational Site Visits (OSVs) and Service Area Competition (SAC) applications often feels like a fire drill for many health centers—disruptive, stressful, and reactive. This session aims to shift that paradigm by equipping health center leaders with a proactive, project management-based approach to compliance. Drawing from real-world experience, the presentation will explore how siloed clinical, data, operations and finance teams contribute to compliance failures and missed opportunities for organizational growth. Participants will learn how to build a culture of continuous compliance through workforce development, aligned policies and procedures, and integrated planning. The session will provide practical strategies for embedding compliance into daily operations, reducing the burden of SACs, OSVs, and other reporting requirements such as budget period progress reports. Attendees will also explore how to align operational workflows with HRSA’s Compliance Manual to maintain readiness throughout the grant cycle—not just during review periods. By the end of the session, participants will be equipped to transform compliance from a reactive scramble into a sustainable, team-driven process that supports organizational resilience, staff development, and improved audit outcomes.
Learning Objectives:
Assess current operational polices, workflows and procedures, and roles and responsibilities
Identify alignment between roles and responsibilities, policies and procedures, and compliance requirements
