PMC2 - State and Federal Policy on Medicaid and Marketplace Eligibility Assistance

Session Description: Shifting policy levers at both the state and federal levels continue to reshape how Medicaid and Marketplace eligibility is assessed and implemented. Regarding Medicaid, new federal laws would require state Medicaid agencies to verify enrollee information monthly and during renewals, require 80 hours per month work reporting requirements for adults, and all expansion states to conduct eligibility reviews every six months for individuals enrolled via the expansion population. On the Marketplace side, federal law would shorten the length of open enrollment periods, end the extension of Marketplace enhanced premium tax credits, eliminate automatic reenrollment in Marketplace plans, and more.

This session will provide an overview of the evolving policy landscape and highlight state perspectives on how these changes are being operationalized. Participants will gain insights into the implications for health centers, patients, and communities, and leave better equipped to navigate the complex intersection of Medicaid and Marketplace coverage policy.
